Licence requirements

Most overseas licences are valid for use in New Zealand; the same restrictions apply as the country of origin. Riders must be 25 years of age or over and have at least one years’ riding experience. Licences must have a motorcycle endorsement. If your licence does not have a motorcycle endorsement an international driving permit will be required.

Passports and visas

The customer or the customer's travel agent is responsible for all paperwork requiring entry to New Zealand.

Deposits and final payments

To confirm a booking we require a 20% deposit of the total hire price.

The deposit is non refundable and will be deducted from the total price.  Immediately after NZ Motorcycle Rentals has recieved the deposit a confirmation of your booking will be e-mailed, faxed or posted to you. The remaining balance plus the security deposit is then due 30 days prior to your departure date.

Cancellations and refunds

Customers can cancel their rental or tour booking at any time. Cancellations must be received by email or fax. If you cancel your rental or tour booking the following will apply:

Cancellations received more than 60 days prior to the departure date are subject to a cancellation fee of the initial 20% or NZ$1000 per person booking deposit.

Cancellations received between 59-40days are subject to a fee of 30% of the total rental or tour cost, 39-14 days are subject to a fee of 50% of the total rental or tour costs.

If a cancellation is received less than 14 days prior to departure date the full 100% of the rental or tour cost is payable and no exceptions to the above can be made. You may however provide a substitute person.

NZMR is not required to give any refunds once your rental or tour has started regardless of the reason for the participant/s being unable to complete the tour.  No refunds are payable on any unused accommodation, meals, motorcycle rental, or any part of the tour, which is unused.

In the unlikely event NZMR have to cancel a fully guided tour, your monies paid will be refunded in full. NZMR reserve the right to cancel any tour up to three weeks before the start of the tour. In this case NZMR will give you the opportunity of placement in any other tours.  We strongly recommend that you carry comprehensive tavel insurance for your entire stay in NZ.

Default or damage

NZMR the owner, shall have the right to terminate the tour of any person or persons and take immediate possession of the motorcycle if the hirer fails to comply with any of the terms of the rental agreement, or if the motorcycle is damaged. The termination of the hire shall be without prejudice to the other rights of the owner and the rights of the hirer under the terms and conditions of hire.

Insurance

All rentals and tours include comprehensive insurance covering damage, theft and fire to the motorcycle. A bond equal to the excess amount is required from the hirer before rental. This bond is fully refundable when the motorcycle is returned undamaged to New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals. Any damage to the motorcycle up to the insurance excess will be deducted from the security bond (please see page on Insurance deposits and options).

Responsibility

New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals does not assume responsibility for bodily injury, nor for any damage or loss to personal effects. However while in New Zealand, you are covered by ACC (accident compensation corporation), which may cover some medical expenses for any vehicle accident you may suffer. We strongly recommend that you carry comprehensive tavel insurance for your entire stay in NZ.
