Motorcycle tour operator
Northern Accessories Limited trading as New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals & Tours operates from Takapuna in Auckland, and Sockburn in Christchurch.
Depot operating hours
Our Auckland depot is situated at our Cycletreads Motorcycle Accessory Superstore just north over the Harbour Bridge from downtown Auckland, at 72 Barrys Point Road Takapuna. We are open 7 days per week and only closed Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Christmas Day. Pick up and drop off times are from 0830hrs to 1700hrs Monday through Friday and 0900hrs to 1600hrs Saturday & Sunday as well as public holidays.
Our Christchurch depot operates by appointment, so please ensure you arrive on time for your scheduled pick up and drop off. The depot is situated at unit 5/22 Lowther Street Christchurch. Operating hours are between 0900hrs to 1600 hrs Monday through Friday only. Should you need to pick up and or drop off during the weekend we will arrange this for you from an alternative address. If you need any riding gear you will need to pick up during operating hours Monday through Friday.
When making bookings booking times must be within hours of operation. If you wish to pick up or drop off outside of these hours please contact us first before making a booking.
Goods & Services Tax
Goods and services tax (GST), is sales tax which is currently 15%. GST is included in all prices.
Motorcycles
All our rental motorcycles are maintained by fully qualified motorcycle technicians, and are New Zealand Government Transport certified for rental vehicles.
During the hire period NZMR is not obliged to replace a damaged motorcycle, but will do our best to get you back on the road as soon as possible.
Licence requirements
Most overseas licences are valid for use in New Zealand; the same restrictions apply as the country of origin. Riders must be 25 years of age or over for all our motorcycles over 250cc and have reasonable riding experience. Licences must have a motorcycle endorsement. If your licence does not have a motorcycle endorsement an international driving permit will be required. For our 250cc motorcycles you must be 18 years of age and over. Restricted licences are permitted on the 250cc motorcycles for general hire. Customers with learner licenses are only permitted to hire 250cc motorcycles for the purpose of sitting an authorised driving test.
Passports and visas
The customer or the customer's travel agent is responsible for all paperwork requiring entry to New Zealand.
Weekender Rates
Our weekender rates are only available from 1 April through 30 September each year. Basically you get three dats hire for the price of two pick up mid day on Friday and drop off mid day on Monday. When booking, the booking engine will quote you the normal daily hire rate. We will adjust this when confirming your booking to you to take into account the discounted rate.
Deposits and final payments
To confirm a booking we require a 10% deposit of the total hire price.
The deposit is non refundable and will be deducted from the total price. Immediately after NZ Motorcycle Rentals has recieved the deposit a confirmation of your booking will be e-mailed, to you. The remaining balance is then due 30 days prior to your departure date and the security deposit is payable when you pick up the motorcycle.
Cancellations and refunds
Customers can cancel their rental or tour booking at any time. Cancellations must be received by email or fax. If you cancel your rental or tour booking the following will apply:
Cancellations received more than 60 days prior to the departure date are subject to a cancellation fee of the initial 10% or NZ$1000 per person booking deposit.
Cancellations received between 59-40days are subject to a fee of 30% of the total rental or tour cost, 39-14 days are subject to a fee of 50% of the total rental or tour costs.
If a cancellation is received less than 14 days prior to departure date the full 100% of the rental or tour cost is payable and no exceptions to the above can be made. You may however provide a substitute person.
NZMR is not required to give any refunds once your rental or tour has started regardless of the reason for the participant/s being unable to complete the tour. No refunds are payable on any unused accommodation, meals, motorcycle rental, or any part of the tour, which is unused.
In the unlikely event NZMR have to cancel a fully guided tour, your monies paid will be refunded in full. NZMR reserve the right to cancel any tour up to three weeks before the start of the tour. In this case NZMR will give you the opportunity of placement in any other tours. We strongly recommend that you carry comprehensive tavel insurance for your entire stay in NZ.
Default or damage
NZMR the owner, shall have the right to terminate the rental or tour of any person or persons and take immediate possession of the motorcycle if the hirer fails to comply with any of the terms of the rental agreement, or if the motorcycle is damaged. The termination of the hire shall be without prejudice to the other rights of the owner and the rights of the hirer under the terms and conditions of hire.
Insurance
All rentals and tours include comprehensive insurance covering damage, theft and fire to the motorcycle. A bond equal to the excess amount is required from the hirer before rental. This bond is fully refundable when the motorcycle is returned undamaged to New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals. Any damage to the motorcycle up to the insurance excess will be deducted from the security bond (please see page on Insurance deposits and options). For hire periods up to (7) seven days a hold only is placed on your credit card for the security bond amount.
Responsibility
New Zealand Motorcycle Rentals does not assume responsibility for bodily injury, nor for any damage or loss to personal effects. However while in New Zealand, you are covered by ACC (accident compensation corporation), which may cover some medical expenses for any vehicle accident you may suffer. We strongly recommend that you carry comprehensive tavel insurance for your entire stay in NZ.
NZMR will not be responsible or liable for speeding, parking tickets, or road tolls, weather, acts of god, or any other circumstances beyond it's control. Nor shall NZMR be responsible or liable for delay, loss, damage or injury to person or property and illness incurred during their stay in connection with or relating to the supply or omission of air, sea, land transportation services, or of accommodation, meals, facilities, entertainment or other services provided by NZMR.
