Bike Gear

Suzuki wanted to split the difference between big, heavy adventure bikes and the smaller ones its own 650cc model competes with (your BMW F800GS, your Versys and KLR650 Kawasakis, your Triumph Tiger 800), and thus the DL1000 was born.
At a claimed 503 pounds gassed up, the '1K' V-Strom is 23 pounds lighter than a BMW R1200GS, 75 pounds lighter than a Yamaha Super Ténéré, and just 31 pounds heavier than its 650 sibling.
Suzuki says it was looking for a compact, lightweight package, which has resulted in the DL1000, a bike the company refers to as a “Sport Adventure Tourer.”
